HAMPSHIRE CULTURAL TRUST
100 THANK YOU'S
THE BRIEF
Hampshire Cultural Trust's 100 Thank You’s project is an arts programme commemorating the active role of the Gurkhas in World War One. In order to highlight and demonstrate the important work that the project was carrying out, the organisers asked us to work with them to create a film. The film needed to show young people at work, Gurkhas engaging with the local community, but not to lose sight of the important message about World War One that project was trying to get across.
WHAT WE DID
We worked with the organisers to create a filming plan that allowed for a nine month project. We focussed on bringing a team that could be flexible, and that could capture the various art sessions in a way that was both unobtrusive and creative. With this footage and a series of interviews that we captured throughout the project, we were able to create a film that spoke in depth about the project, whilst maintaining a strong historical focus.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Hampshire Cultural Trust's 100 Thank You’s project is a commemorative project marking the centenary of the end of the World War One, particularly with a focus on the active role that Gurkhas played in it. At three schools in the Rushmoor area, young people met with serving and ex-Gurkhas, visited museums and learned from artists in order to create creative responses from this. The project not only gives young people the opportunity to be creative, but leaves them with a greater understanding of the Gurkhas role in World War One and the people in their community.
